Walking Tennis Course

We are pleased to let you know we are hosting a face-to-face walking tennis training session in the County for coaches and volunteers alike run by Neil Bates.
Walking Tennis is a safe, fun and inclusive version of the game that helps clubs engage a wider range of players, including older adults, people returning from injury, those with long-term health conditions, and complete beginners/lapsed players. The training gives volunteers and coaches alike the confidence and practical knowledge to support sessions that are welcoming, well organised and enjoyable for everyone.
For clubs, this can bring a number of benefits. Walking Tennis can help attract new participants, retain existing members, make better use of off-peak court time, and strengthen a club’s reputation as an inclusive community venue. It can also open up opportunities to connect with local partners and reach people who may not otherwise see tennis as something for them.
For volunteers personally, the training is a great chance to build new skills, learn how to adapt activities to different needs, and feel more confident leading or supporting sessions. It is also a good way to share ideas with others and be part of making tennis more accessible in the local community. Overall, attending the training can help volunteers and coaches return to their clubs with practical tools, fresh ideas and a clearer understanding of how Walking Tennis can support both participation and inclusion.
On the day of the training you will find out how to potentially access a free walking tennis kit bag and potential small grant to support the start of your walking tennis delivery.
